Understanding your thoughts. Changing what holds you back.
Where understanding leads to change.
You may look like you’re coping on the outside, but inside it feels exhausting trying to hold everything together. Are you feeling stuck by patterns of self-doubt, anxiety, or thoughts of past trauma? Perhaps you are feeling professionally burnt out or maybe you are trapped by compulsive tendencies and thoughts that scare you. Your mind may have developed coping strategies to deal with difficult times but it’s now self-defeating. Strategies of staying busy, avoiding conflict, blaming or putting others first – now your approach is holding you back. Don’t worry, we can rewrite this – change is possible.

I'm Richard, an accredited CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) & REBT (Rational Emotional Behavioural Therapy) Therapist. I am also trained in various other techniques that I integrate to support you.
Before training as a Therapist, I had a long career working with, and leading, large teams in the commercial world. It's given me a depth of understanding about people, their behaviour and relationship dynamics. It allows me to offer unique insight, empathy and strategies as your Therapist. My goal is to provide you the tools to ultimately become your own therapist.
I studied at the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Regents University, London on an NCPS accredited course. I hold a Diploma in CBT/REBT, an Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT and a Diploma in Advanced Integrative CBT/REBT achieved at a distinction level. I am also a trained EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) therapist.
Alongside my core CBT & REBT approach I am trained in several other approaches and techniques. This means you receive the support you need and not a rigid approach that sometimes comes with therapy, importantly, you will always understand what we are doing and why. The brain is complex, I spend time helping you understand why you feel, think and behave in a certain way. Most importantly, I believe that the relationship we have is key to therapeutic success and is at the heart of my approach.
I additionally offer specific support for work & career related issues, no matter what level you work at, or the career you have. Please take a look at my page that discusses this.

Together, we’ll compassionately make sense of your experiences, map out the patterns that keep you feeling anxious or low, and identify goals.
It’s a brave step asking for support, I understand this in itself can make you anxious. There is no rush here, we will work in a way that helps you
get the most out of therapy and brings you hope that change is possible.
I use an integrated application of CBT, REBT and several other approaches tailored to you. It’s highly effective with progress you can really feel, change you can really see and so opening new possibilities for you…
I have been educated and trained in the treatment of complex psychological, emotional, symptomatic and behavioural problems listed on
this page. However no one person is the same and the treatments of a number of conditions simultaneously is often helpful. I will formulate a
comprehensive and thorough treatment strategy that we will approach at your pace.
I have additional services and an adapted approach for anyone struggling with the pressures of work. Having a career can be tough. I know this from nearly 30 years as a professional in business. Now as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I am unique in combining my understanding of work, career and money challenges you may face with highly effective therapeutic interventions. I will help you overcome fears, challenges and the self-sabotage that prevents you from achieving your career goals, life goals, and ultimate happiness.
Our personal and work lives are inextricably linked, they often unhelpfully impact each other. My work is centred on you as an individual so whether your challenges are personal, professional or an entwined situation of both, I will work with you to resolve what lies at the heart of it.
“I don't know when the change happened! When I came to Richard I saw no future, I was full of regret, I was depressed. It was after a couple of months I came to therapy and told him I suddenly felt free, released, and had a completely new energy for my future. I still don't know when it happened but it has....thank you”
